COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Columbus State University women's soccer team enters tonight's Peach Belt Conference Tournament semifinal with a 13-3-2 overall record, a No. 5 national ranking and a chance to advance to another conference championship game. The Cougars face a 7 p.m. semifinal Wednesday, Nov. 4, after defeating USC Beaufort 2-1 in Saturday's quarterfinal, according to Columbus State athletics. The PBC championship game is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m., with Columbus State seeking to add another tournament title to a program that won its third consecutive championship in 2025.

The Cougars finished conference play with a 7-0-2 record and secured the 2026 PBC regular-season championship with a victory over Georgia College on Oct. 17, according to the university's athletics schedule. Columbus State enters the semifinal under head coach Jay Entlich, who led the team to the conference tournament championship last season. The university's Week 9 national ranking placed the Cougars fifth as they moved into the postseason.

Columbus State is one victory away from reaching the Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship game. The conference's published championship schedule places the semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 4, and the final on Saturday, Nov. 7. According to Columbus State athletics, tonight's semifinal begins at 7 p.m., while the championship is scheduled for 1 p.m.

A championship this season would extend a tournament winning streak that reached three consecutive titles in 2025. Columbus State defeated North Georgia 1-0 in last year's championship match, according to the university's June 10 announcement of its 2026 schedule. The Cougars are now attempting to follow that tournament victory with another championship after already winning the 2026 regular-season title.

The 2026 tournament also comes after a season in which Columbus State went unbeaten in conference play. The Cougars' 7-0-2 PBC record included the Oct. 17 victory that secured the regular-season championship. Tonight's semifinal represents the next stage of the conference postseason following Saturday's quarterfinal round.

How the Cougars Reached 13-3-2

Columbus State's overall record includes 13 victories, three losses and two draws, according to the university's official women's soccer schedule. Its 7-0-2 conference record accounts for seven wins and two draws in Peach Belt competition. The university's Week 9 national poll listing places the Cougars at No. 5.

The schedule also shows how the team's results were divided across home, away and neutral-site matches. Columbus State compiled a 6-1-1 home record, went 6-2-1 in away matches and posted a 1-0 record at neutral sites. Those results combine to produce the team's 13-3-2 overall mark heading into tonight's semifinal.

Columbus State entered October with conference victories already contributing to its unbeaten PBC record. On Oct. 3, the Cougars defeated Clayton State 2-1 behind goals from Elle Henschel and Ansley Caldwell, according to BVM Sports. That result improved Columbus State to 7-2-2 overall and 3-0-2 in conference play at that point in the season.

The Cougars subsequently added victories that secured the conference regular-season championship and moved them toward the postseason. Their results included wins over USC Aiken, USC Beaufort, Georgia College and Catawba during October, according to Columbus State athletics. The final stretch of the regular season also included a loss at Montevallo before the conference tournament began.

Quarterfinal Victory Over USC Beaufort

Columbus State advanced to tonight's semifinal by defeating USC Beaufort 2-1 on Saturday, Oct. 31. The quarterfinal match was played at Walden Soccer Complex in Columbus, according to the university's official athletics schedule. The victory followed an earlier meeting between the schools that Columbus State also won.

The Cougars defeated USC Beaufort 7-0 on Oct. 14 during the regular season. That earlier result was part of the stretch that preceded Columbus State's conference championship-clinching victory over Georgia College. Saturday's 2-1 quarterfinal result gave the Cougars another win over USC Beaufort and moved them into the tournament's semifinal round.

The quarterfinal was the first stage of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament, which includes eight qualifying teams. According to the conference's 2026-27 championship schedule, the opening round was set for Oct. 31. The semifinal round follows tonight, with the championship scheduled three days later.

Regular-Season Title and the Final October Results

Columbus State secured the 2026 Peach Belt Conference regular-season championship with a 2-1 victory over Georgia College on Oct. 17. The result came three days after the Cougars defeated USC Beaufort 7-0, according to the university's schedule. Those victories were part of a sequence that helped Columbus State finish conference play without a defeat.

The team's documented results since Oct. 11 show the progression toward the postseason.

The Oct. 21 victory over Catawba extended the Cougars' winning results following the conference title-clinching game. Columbus State then lost 1-0 at Montevallo on Oct. 28, according to the university's schedule. The team returned to the win column against USC Beaufort in the PBC quarterfinal three days later.

The regular-season conference championship and the tournament title are separate accomplishments. Columbus State had already secured the 2026 regular-season championship before entering the postseason. The Cougars must advance through the remaining tournament rounds to claim this season's tournament championship.

Looking Back at the 2025 Three-Peat

Columbus State enters this postseason after winning three consecutive Peach Belt Conference Tournament championships through 2025. Last season's title came with a 1-0 victory over North Georgia in the championship game, according to Columbus State athletics. That victory represented the Cougars' third straight tournament title.

The university's 2026 schedule announcement reported that Columbus State finished the 2025 season with a 14-6-1 overall record. The Cougars went 8-2 in conference competition before winning the tournament championship. They also advanced to the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament.

Columbus State's 2025 NCAA tournament appearance ended with a 1-0 loss to Lenoir-Rhyne, according to the university. The Cougars returned for the 2026 season under head coach Jay Entlich. Their 13-3-2 record and 7-0-2 conference mark now form the backdrop for another PBC semifinal appearance.

The 2026 regular season differed from 2025 in one notable conference measure. Columbus State recorded two conference losses in 2025 but none during its 2026 PBC schedule. The team also secured this year's regular-season championship before beginning its attempt to extend the tournament title streak.

How the Peach Belt Tournament Works

The Peach Belt Conference Tournament uses an eight-team format, according to the conference's published 2026-27 championship schedule. The top eight teams qualify for postseason competition, and higher-seeded teams host all rounds. The conference scheduled quarterfinals for Oct. 31, semifinals for Nov. 4 and the championship for Nov. 7.

The tournament schedule establishes three rounds between the opening matches and the conference championship. Columbus State completed the quarterfinal round with its victory over USC Beaufort. Tonight's semifinal determines whether the Cougars advance to Saturday's championship match.

The conference's format also places importance on the distinction between regular-season standings and tournament results. Columbus State finished 7-0-2 in conference play and won the regular-season championship, according to the university. The tournament remains a separate competition, with its championship scheduled for Saturday.

NCAA Tournament Dates Follow the Conference Championship

Columbus State's athletics schedule lists additional postseason dates beginning Nov. 13, after the Peach Belt championship game. The listed NCAA Southeast Regional dates are Nov. 13 at noon and Nov. 15 at 3 p.m. Those dates appear on the university's schedule, but the listing does not establish that Columbus State has qualified for NCAA tournament play.

The same schedule lists a Southeast Super Regional date of Nov. 20 at noon. It also lists an NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship entry for Nov. 20 at 3 p.m. These are future schedule entries rather than confirmed Columbus State appearances.

The Cougars reached the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2025 after winning the Peach Belt Tournament championship. That season ended with the 1-0 NCAA loss to Lenoir-Rhyne, according to Columbus State athletics. This year's listed NCAA dates follow the conference championship scheduled for Nov. 7.
