Fountain City Classic Parade Returns Nov. 7, With Entry Registration Opening Oct. 2
Marching bands, floats and the royal courts of Fort Valley State University and Albany State University will fill the streets of Phenix City and downtown Columbus on Saturday, Nov. 7, for the 36th annual Fountain City Classic Parade.
The parade begins at 9 a.m. on Colin Powell Parkway in Phenix City, Alabama, and ends at the corner of 9th Street and Broadway in downtown Columbus. Organizers say it is a rain-or-shine event.
The parade kicks off game day for the 36th Fountain City Classic, which pits the Fort Valley State Wildcats against the Albany State Golden Rams at 2 p.m. at A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium.
**Want to be in the parade?**
Schools, churches, businesses, clubs and community groups can register to take part. Registration opens Thursday, Oct. 2, at noon and closes Sunday, Oct. 25, at 11:59 p.m. The fee is $35 per vehicle or marching unit. Register at fountaincityclassic.com under Registration, then Parade Registration.
**Volunteers needed**
The Classic is also looking for parade volunteers. Volunteer sign-up closes Monday, Oct. 26, at 11:59 p.m. on the Classic's website.
