Columbus residents can learn more about a proposal to add roundabouts to two local bridges at a public open house next month.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and the Transportation Investment Act Program will host the event, according to the Columbus Consolidated Government. It will cover proposed improvements to the Schomburg Road and Blackmon Road bridges over J.R. Allen Parkway.

When and where: Oct. 13, 5 to 7 p.m., at Blackmon Road Middle School, 7251 Blackmon Road.

There will be no formal presentation, so residents can drop in at any point during the two hours, the news release says.

The project is estimated to cost about $11.3 million, according to a July 2026 infrastructure update from the city-county government.
