[Columbus, Georgia] – The Georgia Department of Transportation advises motorists that Pierce Chapel Road at U.S. 27 will temporarily close for construction related to the ongoing U.S. 27 improvement project starting Monday, September 21.

The expected closure will be in effect for two weeks, weather permitting. Drivers should follow the posted detour, allow additional travel time and use caution near the work zone. The schedule is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen conditions.
