ATLANTA — July 1, 2024 — The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) and Georgia’s Path2College 529 Plan today announced that the We Care, Child Care Sweepstakes is open for entries. A total of four winners – one from each region Southeast, North, South Georgia, and Metro Atlanta – will be randomly selected to receive a $1,529 college scholarship.

The sweepstakes will also grant each winner’s child care program $1,529. Entries may be submitted through Wednesday, July 31, 2024. Details for entering are available at path2college529.com/wecare. For the past 10 years, the two organizations have collaborated to offer Georgia children an opportunity to win money for college.

“We are proud to partner with Department of Early Care and Learning to promote financial planning for education through the We Care, Child Care Sweepstakes” said Treasurer Steve McCoy.

“I encourage child care providers to spread the word about the We Care, Child Care Sweepstakes. I hope families will enter for a chance to win funds to support their children’s educational and career goals,” said DECAL Commissioner Amy M. Jacobs. “DECAL begins laying the academic foundation for a child’s educational career and Georgia’s Path2College529 Plan lays a financial foundation on which that child’s future educational dreams can be built.”

The sweepstakes is open to Georgia families whose child (age 13 or younger) attends a DECAL-licensed child care program. Past winners have included families from more than 30 cities and towns across Georgia, from Atlanta to Savannah, Hiawassee to Albany. The partnership has awarded more than $75,000 to 34 future college-bound students and has helped inform families about saving for college through Georgia’s Path2College 529 Plan.
