COLUMBUS, GA – July 9, 2024— It’s a few weeks into summer and the Fairfax family could be headed to a theme park, beach or even visiting grandparents for the weekend. Instead, Jared and Trina Fairfax and their son Levi are eagerly anticipating a three-day convention with a few thousand people who will come to hear exciting good news.
“This isn’t just a convention,” said Jared of Albany, Ga. “It’s a time to be together as a family and to see old friends and to meet new ones.”
One of the largest convention organization in the world returns to Columbus Civic Center in Columbus, with a much anticipated motivational program to comfort and encourage the public.
Jehovah’s Witnesses will present their “Declare the Good News!” convention series beginning the weekend of July 12-14, 2024. The free event is expected to draw more than 8,000 attendees to the city over the course of two weekends – fueling the city’s economy with local spending at stores, hotels and restaurants.
“We are excited to work once again with city officials in Columbus to host our conventions,” said Derrick Thomas, local spokesperson for Jehovah’s Witnesses. “These conventions are a highlight of the year for thousands of people who need to experience some positivity in their lives, and we are happy to enjoy the program once again in this welcoming and hospitable city.”

Saturday spotlights a baptism of candidates from surrounding communities, while a two-part video feature will captivate the audience on Friday and Saturday mornings. Prior to each convention, local congregations are engaging in a campaign to invite community members to this free event.
Last year, nearly 13 million people attended more than 6,000 three-day conventions worldwide.
