With A Marriage, Two Families Become One
Editor’s Note: This story is about two people who fall in love and how their families became one.
Columbus, Georgia: A man and woman met who became friends and their relationship blossomed into love for each other. He is the father of five children and she is the mother of four children. He was the owner of Riley’s Barber Shop on Luna Drive in the city where she brought her sons for a haircut. She was the owner of Proverbs 31 Beauty Shop on Farr Road. In 2004.
These two adults developed a friendship for two years which became love and so, Mr. Gerald Riley married the now Mrs. Catosha Riley July 9, 2006.
Now, their nine children were being part of the Riley’s blended family. The five children of Gerald are Levonda Johnson, Kirra Riley, Tyler Riley,(three girls), Collin Riley and Dakota Riley (two sons).. The four children of Catosha are Cornelious Threatt, Darious Threatt, Aston Threatt (three sons) and Ashley Threatt (her only girl).
With the marriage of the Riley’s, they combined their efforts as business owners and run the Overflo Beauty and Barber Shop, which is located on Rigdon Road.
The Riley’s were now met with some decisions to make. As business owners, they successfully merged their two businesses into one. In their continued relationship, Gerald admitted that they “always maintained conversation.”
In their married lives, with six of their children living in their home, Gerald and Catosha admitted “they do not go to bed mad.”
The Riley’s quickly admit a love for God and their neighbor. So, the community might hear their radio show. Or they may know about the Riley’s business, which has the beauty and barber services as well as a retail shop featuring honey from their bee farm and lovely gift items to purchase.
What else do they do? You might be thinking and rightly so. Gerald loves fishing, bee keeping, gardening, building crafts and spending time with his wife. Gerald said his craft making includes unique crosses. Catosha enjoys fishing, cooking and art works. Some of her amazing pieces are on display In the Overflo shop on Rigdon Road in the city,
The two of them, with their family and friends, have been able to live and work together for their benefit and for the lives of those they touch.
