Columbus, Georgia : Caretakers event opens new doors when Creme De La Crème Catering and Diner and Peaceful River Residential Services reached out . They did something very unique. The two established businesses held A Family Caregiving Brunch recently for a group of dedicated caregivers. It was truly an exchange of encouragement love and appreciation for Family Caregivers. It’s a touching way of communicating with determined and considerate caregivers.
The Saturday afternoon festivity opened with a Welcome by Ms. Pamela S. Williams of Peaceful River Residential Services. She was very enthusiastic and positive. Mrs. Melanie Phillips Brown of Transitional Independence LLC gave the Welcome. She helped to explain how caregivers can get help for their loved ones. Preparing for Old Age was the next topic for discussion. Some of the options open for the aged and disabled are home versus facility, Medicare or Medicaid and LTC insurance. In thinking about aging, the guests were encouraged to plan early. There are so many options including in-home support care, nursing home care, personal care homes and long-term care.
As the discussions ensued, a delicious brunch was served including barbecued beef brisket, fried catfish nuggets, salmon croquettes, potatoes O’Brien, cheese grits, Martini mixed salad, fried green tomatoes, fruit tray, cheddar biscuits, yeast rolls, Mimosas, water, an assortment of condiments and delicious beverages including sweet tea.
Some Caregiver Tips were given as the guests heard some of the challenges faced by the caregivers in the audience. Some family members are victims of Covid-19 side effects that have left them hospitalized or still suffering months later after Covid-19 symptoms are gone. There were some situations that were humorous and others that brought tears to the eyes.
Caregivers Avoid Burnout was the next phase of the event as caregivers were told options to assist them in avoiding caregiver burnout. This was a very vital topic and well appreciated.
Questions and Answers were entertained and there was plenty of information shared as well as telephone numbers and business cards. At the end of the brunch, there was a gift for the person sitting in the special chair as well as lovely gift items at each table.
Everyone present thanked Mrs. Pamela Williams, Mrs. Melanie Phillips Brown and Mrs. Ramona Horton for the brunch and look forward to future events that value caregivers as well as remarkable success stories.
